We bought Monkey Business for $50,000 at the Brockman Farms Sale from Blount Farms. I was not there that night but thankful for good friends in the industry that called and said he was a “top 3 show pig” he had seen all year and was a must buy. When I heard that, I knew we had to bring this one back to Central Oklahoma. Those of you not familiar with this one’s lineage, focus up for just a second because its lengthy but I think tells the story of what this one is capable of genetically. His mother is a littermate to Stud Monkeys’ mom; she would also be a littermate to the Mason barrow that was Champion at Fort Worth in 24. The SNAFU grandma is a littermate to the champion heavy weight Cross at Houston in 22. Great Grandma is a mate to the Grand Barrow at the Alternative in 2020. So Stud Monkey bred to his aunt is what the Blount crew did to create the masterpiece that is “Monkey Business.” This pig is the hardest one to write about simply because nothing I can say will fully describe all the good that this one has to offer. The Blount crew has won as much in the Texas Major scene as anyone and the sow line on the top and bottom side of this boar is the reason why. It’s truly impressive when you start asking Glenn about this sow line and the major winners he can list for generations. We feel extremely privileged to own this boar and feel like he will be a key player in making crossbred showpigs better in the years to come. BREEDING TIP: Blount hogs are notorious for the way they “feed.” Monkey Business has always been an impressive individual that has gotten better every day on earth. He was not the bloomiest, biggest muscled baby pig I have ever seen, therefor I would take him to some early muscle if you want to ring a big bell selling them, but at the end of the day just breed him to one in heat and it’s going to be just fine.
