“Against The Grain” got the fall started off right and the people stirring after we purchased him for $75,000 at the Lindner Farm Sale from Wintex. Many called him the most memorable pig of the weekend and for us he certainly was that. His sire has won on every level in just about every breed one could dream up. When we saw this pig, we knew that with his daddy getting older every day, we needed to replace him with something special that our customers could continue to use their imaginations and make southwest breed hogs with the extras that it takes to get to the backdrop. Since we have started showing “Against The Grain” to the public, the overwhelming comment has been that he can breed belted sows as well breed classifying sows. We couldn’t agree more because if he’s belted he is certainly on the must use list, it just adds to his value that he’s the color he is. As popular of an animal as we have ever gathered and one that we think will write his own story in books of southwest barrow lore much like his daddy. Crosses, spots, solid whites, berks…….it can go as deep as your imagination will allow, and we can’t wait to be along for the ride. BREEDING TIP: It’s no secret that OG could make every breed but with that came some sort in terms of color, basically OG was good at throwing a few red calicos each litter. We think “Against The Grain” is going to bring consistent color to the table resulting in deeper litters, more profit, and more winners with the same kind of unique champion parts and pieces we have all came to love from the OG line.
